Shelby Dodd (‘14) is known around the junior class to be one of the smartest students.
“I have about a 4.6 GPA,” Shelby said.
Shelby hopes to use her smarts in order to go to Virginia Tech within the following years.
“I want to work in Child Psychology or Early Childhood education,” Shelby Said.
Besides working on getting good grades, Shelby belongs to what she believes to be “too many” clubs. Some of these include Model UN, Academic team, Molten Art, NHS (National Honor Society), ASL (American Sign Language) Club, and the 4:12 Student Ministry.
“[Academic Team] is actually really fun! Mr. Tlumack, the sponsor, is really snarky so he makes it more fun. Plus, I love hanging out with the cool kids on the team.” Shelby said.
One club Shelby finds a special connection to is ASL club.
“I find it a really fascinating language and it may be useful in my future career endeavors because special education sometimes uses ASL as a method for communication,” Shelby said.
Outside of school and clubs, Shelby dedicates her extra time to her church, friends, pets, and writing poems.
