Mrs. Ferrick, who teaches Economics and Personal Finance as well as Keyboarding, attended George Mason University, acquiring her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business. Before she started teaching here, she worked as defense contractor.

After 20 years of working as a substitute teacher and doing long-term teaching at Winding Creek, Rodney Thompson, and Colonial Forge, she decided to finally become a full-time teacher.

“Everyone kept asking me why I wasn’t teaching full time, so I took the test and passed,” she said.

Even though this her first year as an official teacher at Forge, she has strong personal ties and deep love for the school.

“I’m blue and green blood all the way through,” Ferrick said. “I’ve been around Forge since the first day it opened. My husband was a coach here; he coached football and baseball here when the school first opened, and all three of my sons graduated from here, so I’ve just always believed Forge is the best school there is.”

She enjoys the two classes she teaches because they give kids the opportunity to learn lifelong skills and will benefit them going into the future.

“I actually like the Econ class i teach. I think teaching kids to save money, couponing, any way that they can save money so that they don’t go into debt and have a good handle on money going into their futures,” she said. “Keyboarding is great because that’s a skill, even though the kids hate taking it. It’s something that you really need, you’re going to use it for the rest of your life.”

When asked the most important question, “What is the best place to get you a gift card for?” Mrs. Ferrick only had three words to say:

“Chick-fil-a and Chipotle.”
