Since there was no female Athlete of the Month selected for March 2019, the staff of The Talon has chosen one of our own: We would like to congratulate Mackenzie Watterson (‘19), gymnast and scholar, for being our AoM.

Mackenzie has been doing gymnastics since she was two years old, and started competing when she was around 6 or 7. She has won four varsity letters for all four years of high school, and her favorite activity is doing floor.

“I really like doing floor, but for high school gymnastics I did a lot of bars because that’s where they needed me,” she said.

“My favorite event this year was getting to go watch my friends compete at states, because our team didn’t qualify, but two individuals did, and we had a lot of fun going to watch that meet.”

Mackenzie is also involved in Orchestra, National Honor Society, club gymnastics and is a volunteer EMT at Fredericksburg Rescue Squad.

*This one was short because it was so short notice, but we plan on celebrating athletes every single month.*
