Map of new districts and what was changed

To address the current and future crowding at Colonial Forge, the school board voted on Tuesday, March 28 to adopt Option A, which will redistrict some current Forge students to Mountain View or North Stafford.

Neighborhoods around Rocky Run, Abel Lakes, and Peppermint Forest will all be going to Mountain View next year. Autumn Ridge and North Embrey Mills will be going to North Stafford.

The board expects Colonial Forge to meet its capacity by the 2020-2021 school year, so by redistricting now they hope to have remedied that problem.

The school board approved this plan by a 5-1 vote, with School Board Member Dwayne McOsker abstaining from the vote. Even though there is a large section of the Forge district being removed, the school district also voted 6-1 for a grandfathering and sibling option for current and incoming Forge students.

Grandfathering means that rising 10th-12th graders can still attend Forge, provided that they have transportation to school. Younger siblings who are rising 7th-9th graders will have this option, as well.
