With holidays right around the corner, organizations and nonprofits are always looking for helping hands to help the less fortunate. Here is an official list of winter 2023 volunteer opportunities for students looking to help and serve their community.
- Trees of Hope 2023
Trees of Hope is an organization that utilizes creativity and decorating skills in a way that benefits the less fortunate. The organization distributes trees to volunteers who are free to decorate the trees as they please. Once all the trees have been turned in, they are auctioned off and the money made goes to nonprofits supporting homeless children and families throughout the region. Visit Loisann’s Hope House (902 Lafayette Boulevard) to pick up trees free of charge and once decorated, deliver the tree(s) to The Woolen Mill on Sunday, November 12, between 1-7 p.m.

2. (Updated) 5K Help
Another simple volunteer task would be to help with upcoming races. Volunteering for these would consist of helping with packet pick up (assigning bib numbers to athletes, and passing out race packets and t-shirts to athletes) aiding water stop stations (pouring cups of water, passing them out to athletes as they come through, collecting all trash and tearing down water stations), working the finish lines (assisting with backup timing, passing out medals, and cheering on finishers), or helping with post-race food (set up post-race food tables and pass out water, bananas, and donuts to race finishers). Here are the links to upcoming races with BishopEvents.
