Emily Bloom (‘15) is on the Colonial Forge swim team for the second year in a row and has been swimming off and on her whole life. She swims about three events at each swim meet including the freestyle, a relay, and either backstroke or breaststroke.
“Swim is hard because we have early practices and then we have practice after school too” she said. “It’s hard to balance homework and everything” she said.
Emily tries to get all of her homework done as soon as she gets home, but sometimes she ends up staying up late to get everything done.
While being on the swim team is hard at times, she still really enjoys it. Her favorite part about being on the swim team are her teammates.
“I like the people” she said. “They’re all really fun.”
“Last year we had a cheer that we always said before a meet and this year we don’t have one” she said. “We just go out and wing it and it’s always funny.”
Another part of swimming that she really enjoys is that it’s a very rewarding sport.
“When I beat one of my times it feels good because I know that I’m improving.” She said.
