Lowe (’20) and Sarratt (’19) Headline Eagle Domination over the Commonwealth
November 8, 2018
The Colonial Forge football team has been dominating the Commonwealth District for years now. So when the 2018 edition of the Eagles sliced through the regular season 10-0 for the second consecutive season, it came as a surprise to absolutely no one.
As expected, when the 2018 All-Commonwealth district teams were released yesterday, nearly half of all players selected from across the 7 team district, attended Colonial Forge. This included Co-District Defensive Player of the Year, Josh Sarratt (‘19), a now three time winner of the award as well as Offensive Player of the Year, Madden Lowe (‘20).
These two ran roughshod all over the district as Sarratt was his cerebral self once again taking on the role of coach on the field for a John Brown defense that gave up an average of 9 points per game. However, the ultimate x-factor for Forge this season was Lowe, a Junior quarterback transfer from Riverbend who arguably out played the already lofty expectations of replacing Forge’s all time leading passer, Ethan Garwood (’18).
With the 17-14 win over North Stafford last Saturday, the Eagles clinched the top overall seed in the 6a State Playoffs and are now two for two on district championships since VHSL returned to the format of old last year. With 11 all-district players returning next fall as well, to say the rest of the Commonwealth should be shaking in their shoes would be a monumental understatement.
