Tuesday, May 7th, the girls lacrosse team defeated Mountain View 10-9 to take home the District Championship.
Overall, the game was a hard fought battle with a lot of back and forth. The team played together as a cohesive unit to come out on top.
The game was the perfect reflection of how the team played all season long, playing with a tough and determined mindset. The team exemplified great growth which paid off for them.
If there was any game for everyone to step up, it would be this one, and that is exactly what they did.
“The game showed the team’s growth and the trust that everyone has in one another. No one out there felt that they weren’t a part of the team”, Samantha “Sam” Orr (‘25) said.
Caroline DiClemente (‘25) especially rose to the occasion, scoring three goals and also played solid defense.
Additionally, Roxanne “Roxi” Stone (‘25) had two goals while being double and even triple teamed at some points.
Captain Madelyn “Maddy” Tlapa (‘25) was top scorer with five goals, further adding to her strong resume.
Just recently, Maddy scored her 100th career goal, an impressive feat for the junior.
Continuously throughout this season, Maddy has proved herself as a leader for the team and has been a huge part of their success.
The team hopes to keep this energy up throughout their next few playoff games and continue to be the team they have grown into.
Monday, May 13th, the Eagles will face Mountain View for the last time in the sub region tournament.
