Siblings are bound to argue, especially if they both participate in the same sport, but that’s not the case for twins Katie and Rebecca Hogarth (‘15). They’ve both been competing in horseback riding for seven years, but they no longer get to compete against each other. “We’re not in the same class now so it’s not really competitive anymore,” Katie said.
Though that’s the way it is now, it hasn’t always been like that. “When we were younger we used to be in the same class so we went against each other, so it was definitely competitive then,” Rebecca said.
Now that they’re not going against each other, they’re very supportive and encouraging of one another’s goals. “We’ll tell each other what the other one is doing wrong or right, and just make them feel better about what the other is doing,” Katie said.
Rebecca also feels the same, “If one of us is doubtful we reassure each other, even outside of horseback riding.”
The one thing that the twins get a bit competitive on has nothing to do with horseback riding. “Grades will get us upset. If one of us has a higher grade than the other we try harder to beat the other,” Katie said.
