March 1, 2017
Meet Staci Stevenson, a Forge junior and aspiring photographer who uses photography as an emotional outlet.
Talon: When did you first realize you liked photography?
Staci Stevenson: “I started to like photography in 8th grade.”
T: How does taking pictures make you feel?
SS: “Taking pictures makes me happy; it’s a great outlet. When I’m sad or happy, I just go and explore.”
T: When/where/how did you learn how to use the camera?
SS: “I got my camera for Christmas freshman year, and I took Imaging Technology freshman year.”
T: What do you see yourself doing in the future with photography?
SS: “I want to have a minor in photography at college.”
T: Why do you like photography?
SS: “[I like photography] because it is something fun to do and I enjoy it a lot.”
T: What kinds of pictures do you like to take?
SS: “I like taking pictures of anything actually. I mostly take pictures of my dog, Sasha.”
T: Tell me your photo-taking process.
SS: “If I’m photographing a person, I make sure that they are comfortable with me and we talk before I start photographing. To have a more natural smile, I make them shake it out and do a straight face and then smile four times in a row.”
T: Do you edit your photos? What is your editing process?
SS: “I do a small amount of editing, because I don’t have the programs.”
T: Where do you like to take photos? In a studio-like environment, nature, etc.?
SS: “I like taking photos outside when the leaves are nice and in the snow.”
