In their last regular game of the season, the boys lacrosse team defeated the Massaponax Panthers with a final score of 10-8.

With the home field advantage, the Panthers were the first to score, with two goals in quick succession.  The Panthers offense was able to maintain possession of the ball and ended the first quarter with a three-point lead over Forge.  Two goals by junior Ryan Bondgren in the second quarter helped put Forge on the board. Going into the half, Forge trailed the Panthers 5-2.

“We didn’t really lose energy that much and we kept fighting back every time.” AJ Riley (’23) said.

When play returned for the third quarter, Forge switched up the offense and had a comeback with two goals by Ian Bennett (’23) and one each by Kevin McGowan (’23), AJ Riley (’23), Christian “Scrappy” Stringer (’23), and TJ Dowd (’22).  Massaponax was able to make two shots.

In the fourth quarter, Forge secured the win with two more goals by Ryan Bondgren (’23).  Goalie Isaiah Hudgins (’23) had a total 20 saves for the game.  At the game’s conclusion, Head Coach Dan Dowd stated that the team fought hard for the win and never gave up.

The Forge varsity boys lacrosse team ends their regular season with a conference record of 9-4. The two teams face off again in the first Commonwealth District playoff game at home on Thursday at 7 p.m.  With a win on Thursday, the team will advance to the second round facing either North Stafford or Brooke Point.
