Trends We Need To Leave In 2023

This year has seen a lot of trends that have taken over social media, spreading to literally everybody. Some trends slayed, and others did not as much. As we go into the new year, here are some trends that I would love to see stay in 2023.

Platform UGGs

I’m totally an UGG girl and have gotten a new pair of UGGs at least every Christmas since I can remember, but I absolutely hate the platforms. I feel like it takes the right type of outfits to make this look good, and with these, that is super hard. Also, I just think that these look clunky and honestly, some of the worst shoes that UGG has ever made. No hate but, it’s giving horse hooves.

Utah curls

The look of curled hair with straight ends has been coined as “Utah curls”. This hairstyle has taken off in popularity this year, and it has received very mixed reactions. Personally, I hate these curls. Make your mind up, either curl your hair, or straighten it and get rid of the in between. Don’t get me wrong, on some people it can look really good but some just take it to the extreme.

Jorts

Sorry to the jorts lovers out there but these are actually the ugliest piece of clothing I have ever seen. There are such an awkward length and I’m convinced that no one can make them look good. They literally look like what dads wear on Sunday afternoons when they are cutting the grass. I feel like jorts became such a big thing this year because people switched up on regular jean shorts and started hating on them but, jorts are definitely not the better option.

Clean girl aesthetic

Ok, I will admit that I love the “clean girl aesthetic” but I am starting to despise the new connotation of it. People have made it to where to fit the “clean girl aesthetic” you have to have perfect skin, a skinny body, and perfect hair. This is just reinforcing negative societal expectations that have been placed on girls and women that are extremely hard to achieve.

TikTok shop

TikTok shop ads have literally taken over my TikTok app, and I’m so sick of it. The amount of scams and fake products that are on TikTok shop is crazy. One second people were scared of “China getting their information” and now people are quick to type in their credit card information for an TikTok shop signature chamoy pickle kit. FYI, TikTok shop, you will never be Amazon and lets leave this in 2023.
